The construction of a Petanque Piste might appear to be an easy undertaking to the layman. However, rules and regulations are in place to protect the standards of the game and the quality of the play. Although technically the game can be played on any terrain, in order to play in organised competitions a specially defined area to specification will be required.

Things to think about:

  • The boarder surround to retain the boules
  • The ‘out-of bounds’ perimeter surface material
  • Proximity to trees for shade or leaf fall in Autumn
  • The fall and drainage to ensure the piste is playable in all seasons
  • The surface finish options to provide various levels of difficulty
  • Fencing, seating and access points into the area

UK Petanque can guide you on all of the above considerations to ensure you have the best solution for your Petanque Piste Arena.
